In June 2005, Norman Go decided to try a Brazilian Jiujitsu class. He fell in love with the art and has been teaching since he was a blue belt. Since then, he has established not only the first BJJ gym in Cebu, but also one of the most successful teams in the Philippines. Norman has since received his brown belt from Professor Alvin Aguilar and is now devoted exclusively to the goal of putting Cebu in the upper echelons of the Jiu-jitsu community. Under the tutelage of Alvin Aguilar and Pichon Garcia, Norman discovered the ultimate formula to winning championships, with more than 50 medals from various tournaments, Deftac-Cebu competitors are one of the most well-known fighters in all of South-East Asia.

2010 marks a new beginning for the Deftac family along with Deftac-Cebu, with new affiliations with Ribeiro Jiu-jitsu. Under the guidance of Saulo Ribeiro, one of the all-time greats in Jiujitsu, Deftac-Cebu aims for greater heights.
